We had a pleasure to work with Doug & Jeanne on their front yard interlock steps. The overall design was fairly simple with a few twists. We angled the first set of steps a bit, which makes it easier and more natural to walk into & incorporated two seating areas into the design. We used some of the biggest tumbled interlock units with very comfortable 6 inch steps topped off with bullnose coping. The armor stones perfected the overall design and made it look very natural. There was also some work done on the side. Fairly inexpensive update, with decorative slabs, river stones and professional grade weed barrier underneath. Before laying the weed barrier, we have salted the side area a bit to ensure all weeds would be eliminated, which is excellent, chemical free, all natural and inexpensive method to get rid of unwanted plants.

 

Here we have a nice front all interlock staircase done for John from Oakville. This is a perfect example of a front done in all interlock. As any of our jobs, we make it last and we challenged all staircases on the street to the lasting test, will see who wins. The design also turned out very well with excellent functionality. The staircase width has been maximized, it has been divided into two sets of steps to create a “rest break” in between. We have used a combination of Permacon Celtik wall with Paleo pavers, which are both tumbled and matching very well with the texture as well as the color. We were very happy with the outcome, as well as the client.

 

Here we had an opportunity to work with a very nice Italian couple from Oakville. We have built a nice interlock patio with a wide staircase, from Unilock’s legendary Brussels Block and with matching wall/step material, Brussels Dimensional. Excellent combination with a unique look. We added a totally black accent border to the patio as well with Unilock, Il Campo. On the very back fence, we created a huge flowerbed which was held back with nice, brown and black, 800 lbs, flamboro armor stones. The water feature was built with jumbo flagstone, each piece was about 800 lbs, nice large, flat pieces, excellent for water feature. We have also used one jumbo flag as a standing pad in front of the bbq. Very nice project.

 

Another nice interlock driveway done here in our beautiful home town of Oakville. We tried some new material here, which is Olympia from Techo-Bloc. Awesome, extra large tumbled material, super thick, which comes with a circle kit! No other high end material of this size comes with a circle kit anymore other than this one from Techo-Bloc. The interlock driveway came out wonderful, with random and circle patterns, square and round corners and a pie shaped step working together very well. Because Pablo is from Spain, he wanted his country’s flag colors to be used in planting, so we put together a small but interesting variety of red and yellow plants. Another happy customer!

 

I have had a wonderful opportunity with Julia and Boris to get creative with plants a little bit. I had a nice size backyard to work with as well as there was quite a bit of planting done in the front as well. The backyard had a few challenges that I had to deal with, but they only helped make the backyard even more creative. There had to be a little bit of safe, grassy area for the baby, we had to come up with something creative around the pool and incorporate many plants, colors and the feel that the client wanted. Also the edging around the swimming pool had to be re-done, since the previous landscaper did not put in a proper interlock edging. We have fixed a few imperfections and have truly brought the front and especially the backyard to life.
